I saw Dr. B, he said he thinks I should continue with the non-operative treatment.
I will post again if the PT will take affect or if there is a change in my treatment plan.

PT Update
So I haven't posted in a while but now I am back with an update.
My physical therapist moved away so I now have a new PT. He is very nice and understanding. He says my muscles are less tight than before, but my pain has not decreased. I have now had 2 sessions in which he tried acupuncture, to try to relax the nerves. The first time my pain was much worse for the rest of the week, but since we don't know if the pain was caused by the acupuncture, I tried it for a second time (today) and I'll see how that goes.
I have an appointment with Dr. B on Monday and I'll post to update you on what his thoughts are.

Allergic Reaction
Just came back from my family doctor. Im a bit woozy so sorry if this post is a bit strange...
This morning I had quite a lot of spots in my face but I didn't think anything of it. However the separate spots became one big, red and swollen "face"... My face was all warm and I felt this burning sensation on my skin. My doctor says its probably an allergic reaction to something in the local anesthetic and steroid injection and that it would probably have been worse if the steroid was not injected with the anesthetic.
This is very uncommon but its something I'll need to keep an eye on. So now I need to take anti-histamines for a few days and hope that it will not become worse.

Local Anesthetic and Steroid Injections
I had my appointment with my doctor (Dr. B) yesterday. He felt I had not had enough physical therapy sessions to know if it would help me improve. Therefore, I will keep up with PT for one more month and then I'll see Dr. B again.
Dr. B gave me local anesthetic and steroid injections in both hips (the injections weren't more painful than a flu shot) as another test to see if the pain would subside after the injections and it did which meant that the pain I am feeling really comes from my hips. It was a really strange experience because, I expected to feel pain when Dr. B manipulated my hips after the injections but I didn't which, is a really weird feeling after years of pain. After a few hours the anesthesia wore of and my hips were more sore than usual due to Dr. B manipulating them after the injections and me manipulating them at home because, I was so happy and confused that I wasn't feeling pain in my hips. Friday is my next PT session and I'm hoping that my pain will decrease with some more PT.
I'll keep you updated (:

Physical Therapy
So after a weekend of a lot of pain and a few nights without sleep, I had another PT appointment. It seems my physical therapist is not happy with my progress. She says I should not be having this much pain with the minimal amount of exercises that I'm doing, and that maybe surgery would be a better option if my pain persists or gets worse. She doesn't want to give up yet since I only have one more appointment before my next appointment with my doctor and he'll most likely be able to tell me what the next step is. I can't wait for my appointment with my doctor because I feel like I'm in between these two worlds where I dont know whether I'm going one way or the other. My head is so full with different scenarios that I hope I'll have some information about my treatment plan soon.
I know I said that PT was starting to go a bit better and am now telling you I'm in a lot of pain, but I'm thinking that the excitement of having therapy that could actually improve my pain may have blinded me for the pain that I had following my exercises.

Introducing Myself and My FAI
Hi everyone,
My name is Sabine. I am a Dutch girl, 15 years old and live in Beijing, China.
I have been struggling with pain in my legs since I was 5 but have recently been diagnosed with FAI in both hips. On this blog I want to share my experience and hopefully it will be helpful for some.
I myself have read many blogs on FAI after I was diagnosed and this has helped calm my nerves, and maybe my blog will help calm yours :)
I went to see an orthopedic specialist after having episodes of my hip locking with excruciating pain. I went to see him in Hong Kong and was diagnosed with the help of X-rays and a physical exam. I will be seeing him again April 15th, and hope to have some more information about the extent of damage and my treatment plan. I have been seeing my physical therapist twice a week for 2 weeks now to see if it will benefit me enough that I can stay on the non-operative route.
I have to say that the physical therapy was really painful for me the first 2 times but its already going so much better. I need to stretch the muscles and strengthen them and have exercises to do so at home. My PT massages the muscles during each appointment and the first 2 times I was so sore after, but this is getting better too. I have to use a foam roller at home to loosen the ITB and this hurts like *^#@$^#, but I'm trying to stay strong because after all those years of pain I'm ready for better times and I'm willing to try everything.
Well this is my story so far, I will try to be as detailed as I can in my posts but if you have questions for me please ask :)
