Introducing Myself and My FAI

Hi everyone,
My name is Sabine. I am a Dutch girl, 15 years old and live in Beijing, China.

I have been struggling with pain in my legs since I was 5 but have recently been diagnosed with FAI in both hips. On this blog I want to share my experience and hopefully it will be helpful for some.

I myself have read many blogs on FAI after I was diagnosed and this has helped calm my nerves, and maybe my blog will help calm yours :)

I went to see an orthopedic specialist after having episodes of my hip locking with excruciating pain. I went to see him in Hong Kong and was diagnosed with the help of X-rays and a physical exam. I will be seeing him again April 15th, and hope to have some more information about the extent of damage and my treatment plan. I have been seeing my physical therapist twice a week for 2 weeks now to see if it will benefit me enough that I can stay on the non-operative route.

I have to say that the physical therapy was really painful for me the first 2 times but its already going so much better. I need to stretch the muscles and strengthen them and have exercises to do so at home. My PT massages the muscles during each appointment and the first 2 times I was so sore after, but this is getting better too. I have to use a foam roller at home to loosen the ITB and this hurts like *^#@$^#, but I'm trying to stay strong because after all those years of pain I'm ready for better times and I'm willing to try everything.

Well this is my story so far, I will try to be as detailed as I can in my posts but if you have questions for me please ask :)
